Elite Comics has added a signing by Jason Aaron to the schedule for the Elite Comics Halloween Bash II planned for October 29th.  Aaron’s latest Marvel series are scheduled to debut that week. Wolverine and the X-Men #1 and Incredible Hulk #1 are among the most anticipated new Marvel series of the fall.

Comics writer and novelist Alex Grecian was in New York City earlier in the week meeting with the publishers of his upcoming novel The Yard. “Had a terrific meeting at the Penguin offices yesterday. The Yard is getting much TLC,” Grecian tweeted.

Brian Fyffe has a new full-color edition of Zombie Chuck. On Thursday Fyffe tweeted, “Full color Zombie Chuck is now in-hand. I’ll put them up on the site tonight or tomorrow.”

Nathan Fox is lending his talents to the new arc of Todd McFarlane’s Haunt. Bleeding Cool has a peek at the ashcan preview of Fox’s work on the series that was distributed at New York Comic Con this weekend.

Cartoonists Cathy Guisewite and Kansas City’s Bill Amend were featured in a video by Tom Gammill for this year’s Reuben Award ceremony.

Planet Comicon 2012 dates confirmed

Planet Comicon is Kansas City's largest comics and pop culture convention.

After a massive convention schedule reshuffle that knocked Planet Comicon off its previously announced weekend, promoter Chris Jackson has confirmed that Kansas City’s largest comics and pop culture convention will be held on March 24th and 25th, 2012.

The promoter had previously announced the March dates as “likely” but not confirmed.

There has been no word from Jackson yet about how the new dates will affect the bookings of previously announced guests Jason Aaron, Dan Parent, Don Rosa, Stan Sakai, and Skottie Young. “I’ll update the website and Facebook soon and list some guest info,” Jackson said.

The rescheduling chain reaction was originally triggered by renovations at San Francisco’s Moscone Center, the traditional home of WonderCon. For 2012, WonderCon decided to move to Anaheim on a different weekend than normal. That turned out to be the same dates as planned for Chicago’s C2E2 convention. In a defensive move, C2E2 then shifted to an alternate weekend in early April — the weekend originally announced for Kansas City’s Planet Comicon.

And this one is something I’m incredibly surprised hasn’t been picked up on by more people or discussed or even brought up.

I hadn’t heard about it prior to the Free State Comicon on September 10th. I hadn’t heard mention of it. But like most of you, I’ve read almost all of the comics that are involved in this insanely brilliant idea.
