In his latest column<\/a> for Comic Book Resources<\/em>, Kansas City comics writer Jason Aaron<\/a> reminisces about his early days in the comics business and the importance that the local network of comics creators had in shaping his career.<\/p>\n

The first week I was here, I found a comic shop and started a pull list: Elite Comics<\/a> in Overland Park. I’ve been buying my books there ever since. Through that shop I first met local comic folk like B. Clay Moore<\/a>, Ande Parks<\/a> and Jai Nitz<\/a>, and later some fellow KC-transplants like Tony Moore and Matt Fraction. Here were people who actually made their living making comics. I couldn’t believe it.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Aaron credits his interaction with local creators, and their assistance and advice in shaping his career. “I honestly don’t know that I would be here today if it wasn’t for them,” he writes.<\/p>\n
