Gail Simone added to Planet Comicon guest list

Comics writer Gail Simone is scheduled to appear at Planet Comicon later this month.  She is best known for her work on DC Comics’ Birds of Prey, Secret Six, and Wonder Woman and Marvel Comics’ Deadpool. She has also written for the Justice League United animated series.

In addition to her comics work, Simone is known for her often outrageous Twitter feed.

“Everyone talks about how cliche it is to add jackets to superhero outfits. But be grateful, it COULD have been legwarmers or socks with toes.”

Planet Comicon is scheduled for March 26 – 27. The event will be held at the Overland Park International Trade Center. Adult weekend passes are available in advance for $15 or at the event for $20.

Jeremy Haun featured at KC Fan Con this weekend

Fan favorite artist Jeremy Haun will appear at KC Fan Con this weekend. Haun, known recently for his work on DC’s Batman books, has just announced that he will be drawing the third arc of Artifacts, the major event book published by Top Cow.

“It’s been hard to keep quiet about this one,” Haun wrote on his blog. “When we announced that I’d be taking over the Darkness with issue 96 in a little over six months there was this strange gap in my schedule that I just couldn’t talk about. It’s nice to finally be able to let the cat out of the bag.”

Haun will be signing comics and taking sketch commissions at the convention. KC Fan Con will is scheduled for Sunday – February 27, 2011, from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, at the Plaza Hotel at I-435 & Metcalf in Overland Park, Kansas. Admission is free.

Planet Comicon 2011 goes Bionic

Actress Lindsay Wagner will be a featured guest at this year's Planet Comicon.

Planet Comicon, Kansas City’s largest pop culture and comics convention, has announced that actress Lindsay Wagner will be a featured guest. Wagner is best known as the star of the television series The Bionic Woman. She has also been featured in dozens of movies and television shows, including the current series Warehouse 13.

Wagner joins a list of media guests that includes Jeremy Bullock (Star Wars‘ Boba Fett), Alaina Huffman (Smallville), Tom Kane (Star Wars: The Clone Wars), and Michael McMillan (True Blood).
